MotherVerse Magazine is an independently run literary journal focused on contemporary motherhood and created and distributed by mothers. Printed quarterly, MotherVerse primarily publishes personal essays, short fiction, and poetry that use motherhood as a lens. The journal strives to represent all groups of mothers, and as MotherVerse accepts submissions from all over the globe, a nice mix of viewpoints are represented. The journal prints pieces which are intelligent and insightful and that take into consideration the unique role mothers play artistically, intellectually, economically, domestically and socially around the world. MotherVerse also includes mother focused interviews, visual art, book reviews, activism, history, science and humor. There are regular calls for submissions from readers and chances to join in discussions about topics of interest. You might find fiction or non-fiction pieces about motherhood in Taiwan, India or New York alongside personal essays about birth, miscarriage, family, and life in general as a contemporary mother. Poetry of all styles as well as history, science and activism sections about mother related topics appear in every issue, as do book reviews. Issues of day-to-day parenting as well as distinctive experiences are included. Each issue is a little different but it is always packed full of one of a kind material. MotherVerse is printed on recycled paper and includes only minimal advertisements, all of which are for mother-owned small businesses. MotherVerse is not your typical mothering magazine, and as the journal s main goal is to facilitate open and intelligent expressions and discussions of motherhood, we think you ll find that refreshing.

MohterVerse is a wonderful treasure in the vast sea of "mommy lit" available to women and mothers in the mass market. MotherVerse offers an honest and intelligent voice to mothers who have more to say than what type of stroller they use or the color of their children's rooms. The essays, etc. in MotherVerse will inspire you as well as validate your experiences on the complex journey of becoming a mother.

MotherVerse is unique in that it takes a multicultural view of motherhood. Issues have included writing from many countries, and many cultures, including Sweden, the Netherlands, India, Japan, and Turkey. The magazine also includes provocative and beautiful artwork. Highly recommended.

I have been reading MotherVerse since it's first printing and from the first magazine to the most recent I have found it to be unique, interesting, and honest. The writing is intelligent and heartfelt. Overall, I find the publication very refreshing! I highly recommend it to all mothers who are looking for a one of a kind publication that is real, smart, and socially aware.
